Recruiting and Retaining Students into Computing, NSF Award #1832433, October 2018 - September 2021
The overarching goal of this research proposal is to design and build a Secure Code Analyzer in a Cloud-Based Object-Oriented Programming Environment, JaguarCode, for:
a) detecting data leaks of private information in code,
b) alerting programmers to those leaks to capture the source of leaks while coding,
c) visualizing data flow graphs of leaks from a source to destinations affected by the leak in the code,
d) guiding secure coding with compliant code examples for secure software development
The goal of the project, JAGCoders, is to build a Campus-Wide Code Development Community to increase enrollment and retention rate in computing and cyber security. The goal will be achieved by major activities including supporting Teaching Assistants and Tutoring for fundamental programming courses, providing bi-weekly workshops, participating in programming competitions, and developing a collaborative code development environment.
